little problem with inserting a formula
Hi all,
i've a little problem with inserting formulas into excel cells. when i write the "path"-link to a cell i can't visualize the value of the link but the "STRING" itself i.e. i'm in Sheet2, cell A1 i write the formula: ='Sheet1'!C1' but i visualize as result of the formula: " ='Sheet1'!C1' " and not its value.... i know it is just a little problem but i can't solve it and it's very frustrating. thank in advance for your help. |

little problem with inserting a formula
it's unchecked !!!!!!
maybe my explanation of the problem wasn't so clear due to my bad english. i've a sheet full of references to other sheets data. most part of this references work good showing the value of the cell they're linked to. In some cases, especially when a create a new reference the cell act as the formula-tool option, u described before, was checked... but it isn't!!! at the moment i've solved the problem creating references into the same sheet in which data are contained. then i cut & copy my table into the sheet i want ito be in. thanks again |

Check Cell's number format, if it is arranged as Text, you can not see the results of your formulas.

it's arranged as general!
i've tried to change the format in order to make it appear the right value but with no results... it seems to be not an as easy problem to fix, or not? |

little problem with inserting a formula
Hi,
you may experience this behaviour also if cell was previously formatted as text. It will also show formula instead of result (the formula is treated as text). - probably your case. Regards, Ivan |

little problem with inserting a formula
Hi,
my previous reply is a little out of date - I had to leave my computer while editing the post, so I didn't see any changes in the thread. Maybe you didn't copy the formula well into your original post, but the formula should be: "='Sheet1'!C1" not " ='Sheet1'!C1' " (the last apostrophe is erroneous). Could this be source of your problem? Regards, Ivan |

Nope,
i've created formulas just by clicking on the exact cell. probably, as ivan said, the problem is linked to a previous cell's format. i'll pay attention on this next time so i can find the real problem.... really thanks for your attention.... |
