Default About this dragging...

This is something that has perplexed me for [literally] years. It used to
happen with e2k, and is now happening with e2k3.

When I have a value in a cell, be it a month or some number, SOMETIMES when I
try to drag it to "copy" it, instead it'll increment itself. "Jan" will become
"Feb", then "Mar", etc. Likewise the number in the dragged cell will increment.

BUT...this only happens SOMETIMES. Other times, the value, whatever it is,
REMAINS THE SAME.

Of course, THIS time, I'm wanting it to increment, and it won't. (As opposed to
my usual not wanting it to and it does! :) )

Can someone enlighten me as to what it is I'm doing, not doing, should be doing,
WHATEVER?!?!

Thanks in advance,

Tom

If Excel recognises the data type from it's list under ToolsOptionsCustom
lists

http://www.nickhodge.co.uk/gui/tools...ustomlists.htm

If you have some trouble getting excel to recognise these series then enter
a 1 in say A1 and 2 in A2 an highlight both...now Excel will be sure to
increment. Equally you could put a 1 and 7 and it will increment each cell
by 7. Enter the dates for a monday to friday sequence in A1:A5 and drag
down and it will increment the dates, excluding weekends...the possibilities
are almost limitless

To surpress this auto incrementing or list recognition just hold down the
Ctrl key while dragging, oruse the smart tag that appears when you complete
the drag
