Default how do I stop excel from recalculating sheet every time I open one

Every time I open a spreadsheet it recalculates formulas so that means even
if I open one up to look at I now cant just x it out i have to say save, dont
save etc - another annoying step when I am in a hurry

EXCEL 2007

Office Button (top left hand corner)

Excel Options (lower right hand corner)

Formulas (on the left hand side) then, on the right hand side, in:-

Calculation options

- switch the Workbook Calculation to Manual then hit OK.

Hi,

If Excel is prompting for a 'save' then something has changed. For example
this could be a cell with a formula in that looks at the current time.

If you haven't changed anything else then it's probably safe to ignore this
and simply close without saving but I wouldn't do it and if you want to know
why then this forum has posts from people asking how they can get their data
back because they forgot to save.

trip_to_tokyo has the right idea, but be careful. People tend to make
mistakes when they are in a hurry...
