Default Highlighting in Custom Footer

I see that I can change the Text Color, but I cannot Highlight the words in a
color in a Custom Footer. Is there a way to do this?

Or can you suggest another way to create a "color key" that explains at the
bottom of every page what highlighted text means. I want this to be on the
bottom of every page.

You are using Excel 03 or 07 ?..The settings around footer/header are limited..

If you are using Excel 2003; no font color change is allowed in
header/footer. In Excel 2007 you can change the color of the font used. Would
suggest to place a picture instead.
