![]() Since Excel 2007 has so many more columns, old named ranges that start with three letters (or even two letters that are 'greater' than the old column limits) could reasonably interpreted by Excel as cell addresses. Part of the up-convert apparently is to check named ranges for this possibility and pre-pend an underscore where it is found.
