Default Stop the 'intelligent' copying?

[Posted this a few days ago but see no sign of it in my Agent
newsreader here, so reposting. Apologies if it turns up twice.]

Could someone remind me how to stop (or temporarily override) this
annoying feature in Excel 2000 please? I simply want to be able to
copy text containing numbers, like a telephone number, down to the
following row by dragging it. I don't want '0845 600 8885' to become
'846 600 8885'. Or 'Call 0845 600 8885' to become 'Call 0845 600
8886'!

Hi,

Hold down the CTRL key as you drag the fill handle.
