Default Entering data

I cannot enter the data the way I want. For example, I want to enter the
number 280000 and it will enter 2800.00. I have tried putting the number in
as General, but I still get the fixed decimal. I have tried to enter it as a
number with 0 decimal places, but I still get the fixed decimal or it will
round off. What do I need to do?

Go Tools|Options then go to the Edit tab of the Options dialog and
deselect the Fixed decimal places option
