address book icon and the address book is blank. Every other user this will
draw upon the global address book from exchange. Why would this happen to

The issue is that office isn't able to access the blobal address book for
some reason. When you click on To the global address book deosn't appear the
list is blank. This happens with any user on this computer. We are running
Office XP on Windows 2000.

Hello George,

Thank you for the clarification on this issue.

Firstly, I would like to know if you have tried the suggestion provided in
the article KB280504. For your convenience, I would like to list the brief
steps below:

#1. Start Excel in Safe Mode
================

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Click Browse, and then locate the folder where Microsoft Excel is
installed, as specified earlier in this article.
3. After you locate the Excel.exe file, click the file to select it, and
then click Open.
4. At the end of the path in the Open box, type a space and then type /s so
that the entire line appears similar to the following:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Excel.exe" /s

If this issue doesn't occur in Excel safe mode, please refer to the
instructions in detail in KB280504 to resolve this issue.

a. Clear up the items existing in the Excel startup folders
b. Rename or delete Excel Toolbar File (.xlb) and Excel.pip File

#2. Corrupted Add-ins Under the Tools Menu

On the Tools menu, click Add-Ins. Click to clear the check boxes for any
add-ins that are selected, and then click OK.

#3. Corruption in the Registry Keys

Note Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.

1. Click Start - Run, type REGEDIT, and then click OK.

2. Locate and select the following resgistry subkeys and rename them.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0

3. Close Registry window.

If the problem persists in Excel safe mode, please start Windows in safe
mode to test this issue. For the detailed steps, please refer to the
following article:

281770 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281770/)
How to perform clean-boot troubleshooting for Windows 2000

In addition, please help us collect the following information for further
research:
1. Has the problem worked? If so, what has changed?
2. Can this issue be reproduced in Word?
3. What service pack and updates has applied on Windows 2000 and Office XP?

If anything is unclear or you need further assistance, please feel free to
let me know. I am glad to be of assistance.

Regards,

Ada Pan
