A few months ago I installed Office 2000 on my XP machine. One issue has come
up that I can't seem to resolve. Whenever I press F1 or click on Help, I'm asked to insert the Office 2000 CD-Rom ("The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom") If I click CANCEL, the Help menu opens normally and all is fine. After a few times of this annoyance I decided to insert the CD and allow it to install whatever file was missing. This didn't work. As long as the CD is in the drive, no problem, but if I remove the CD, I'm back to where I'm started. This suggests that some component used by Help must have been set to "Run from CD" during setup. So I entered Setup/Add Remove Components and checked the entire Office component tree. Only a handful of components were set to "Run from CD" (e.g., Clipart, Spreadsheet Templates, Converters and Filters, Office Server Extensions Support, and Tutorial for Power Point). None of these is remotely related to Help. I tried running the Office Repair feature, but the problem persists. Anyone know how to fix this? |
