Particularly if you edit your file down to a table of data (hopefully with
column headers!), Excel may astound you with its intuition. From Excel's menu bar, File Open. In the dialog, set the 'files of type' drop-down at the bottom to 'text files.' Then find your file and open it. Again, if the file content is a table, Excel will perform once of those rare 'do what I mean' tricks. --Bruce "elcipser" wrote: i have a text file 400 pages long, i need only certain information (loan amount, interest rate, principal amount) to transer to an xls file, so i am able to create formulas and copy and paste information i need. we are retyping it at work from txt file to an xls file, and it is a pain. thanks |
