Default Auto Update

Hello , I have a spreadsheet that we are using for balancing reports
monthly. On the spreadsheet I have columns for previous data. How can I
create a link to automatically create a new spreadsheet and move the
current data to the previous data columns ? Can I have it link back to
my template and just place the data on the template as previous ?
Is that possible?
