Default freeze pane option not available

The freeze pane option is not highlighted on my toolbar. Consequently, I
cannot select it for use. As best as I can determine the worksheet is not
procted.

Worksheet protection will not disallow Freeze Panes.

Could be the workbook protection is enabled.

ToolsProtectionUnprotect workbook.

Or in 2007

Review TabProtect Workbook.
