Default cond. formating quesiton

I know no function can change font color.
If I conditional form. can I select a col and
say col A is an emp. name and then there are sales
figures in b c d ect.

so if a1 emp name is bob and he does not have any sales
figuers in b1 c1 d1 ect. his name will highlight red or something
like that

Yes, you can do that with conditional formatting.

You need to be more specific on the requirement.

if a1 emp name is bob and he does not have
any sales figuers in b1 c1 d1 ect.

If Bob doesn't have any sales will all of those cells be empty or might they
contain a number like 0?

Do you want the format applied if *every cell* is empty or if *any single
cell* is empty?
