Default Copying formulas in excel

I am not able to copy a formula from one worksheet into another. Instead of
the formula, the value from the cell in the old work sheet copies to the new
work sheet. Thanks

Default Copying formulas in excel

I can copy a formula from one worksheet to another in Excel 2007 with
copy/paste. I get the formula, not the value. How are you copying the
formula?

Instead of doing a standard paste, use paste special:
Edit-Paste Special...

From there you can select formulas, values, or whatever else you need
to paste.

Yes that is normally the way I do it. For some reason it is not happening.
The sheet I am copying FROM, I havent used in 2 years, but dont think that is
it. I am guessing I may have inadvertantly formatted the old worksheet to
prevent copying. Is there some way to determine this? Some way to see what
formats are being applied to my old sheet?

Thank you

I know of no way to format to prevent copying. Select the cell on the old
sheet and do CTRL+1 to see what formatting was applied. Make sure the cell
actually contains a formula and not a value. Also if you copy a formula to
the Office clipboard then paste from the Office clipboard, you will the
value, not the formula.
Pasting from the Windows clipboard will provide the formula, not the value.
