I am creating a pivot table for a department in a healthcare clinic that I
work for. They want to run a report that shows by year the number of
people that have gotten labs done in another facility. The Date column
is formatted as mm/dd/yy. Is there away that I can group the dates together
by year? All I am able to do is show each individual date. If have tried the
following suggestion:

Right-click on the Date field button in the pivot table
Choose Group and Show DetailGroup
Select Years, click OK

When I follow these steps, Excel says that I "Can not group that selection".
Any ideas???

If there are any blank cells in the date column, you won't be able to
group the dates in the pivot table.

Or, if the dates are being treated as text, you won't be able to group
