Default Summing

I summed a column. When I highlight the cell where the total is supposed to
go, the answer is there. When I don't, it's not. What did I do wrong?

It could be that the cell has been formatted as white text.
Check that your font colour for the cell is set at Automatic.

I checked that already, but it wasn't. Any other ideas?

Did you check "Conditional Formatting"?

There is a conditional format for those cells, but it only applies if the
value isn't a number.
