can't use scrollbars on large spreadsheet, they bounce back
Hi, Pete,
Thanks, but I can't find anything to help with the problem with the scroll bars. I now understand why we got the "too many cell formats" before and we can correct that, but the scrollbars still "stick." I'm not sure what the problem is - I suggest that you clear the cell
formats first and see if you still have the problem. I use XL2000, sometimes with files of 25Mb, but have not encountered this problem. I'm not sure how "sticky" scrollbars relate to you using the arrow keys to move around. can't use scrollbars on large spreadsheet, they bounce back
Hi, Pete,
Thanks, but the cell format error msg did not come up again now. When we grab the vertical scroll bar, for example, and pull it down, it always bounces back to the top of the bar and the spreadsheet won't scroll down. Same thing w/the horizontal scroll bar. It is particularly bad when we are trying to highlight a section wherein we need the scroll bars. We can go to another cell, page or section of the spreadsheet using the arrow keys, but we can't highlight it that way. If you hold down the <SHIFT key while pressing the arrow keys this
allows you to highlight a range - same with Page Down/Up. You can also use the F5 key (GoTo) if you know what cell you want to move to. I have encountered the problem you describe with scroll bars before, but I can't remember what I did to rectify it (if anything). It might have been with XL97. Does the sheet scroll if you click in the scroll bar? Not sure if this helps. Pete Hayden Lee wrote: Hi, Pete, Thanks, but the cell format error msg did not come up again now. can't use scrollbars on large spreadsheet, they bounce back
Hi, Pete,
Thanks. I can use the shift key to highlight, that helps for now. As for clicking the scroll bars, no, they do not move. The bars just click from black to white but nothing happens. We've ordered Excel 2003 and we'll try that. Hayden "Pete_UK" wrote: If you hold down the <SHIFT key while pressing the arrow keys this allows you to highlight a range - same with Page Down/Up.
