Is there a way to send notifications, based upon an event, to either a mobile
provider (text message) or a Instant Message (Yahoo, AOL, etc...)? |

Yes you can, either use the events attached to the workbook, by looking at
the events available in the ThisWorkbook class module of your [roject, I do not know what syntax you will need to access mobile phones or other devices, or you could create an Excle class module and likewise take control over not just the active Workbook, but Excel as an application.
