Tim,
The version number indicates which major release (e.g, 97, 2000, 2002, 2003) the software is, and the build number indicates which service release is in place (e.g., SR1, SR2, etc). -- Cordially, Chip Pearson Microsoft MVP - Excel Pearson Software Consulting, LLC www.cpearson.com "Tim Childs" wrote in message ... but sometimes the build number just seems to be an "unintelligible" serial number e.g 35783? thanks for feedback Tim "Chip Pearson" wrote in message ...
