Default Strange excel question

This question is more out of curiosity...but its been something that I
have been wondering about for sometime. When formatting a cell for
DATE specific...there are 2 date formats that are the exact same
(14-Mar-01). Both seem to produce the exact same output. Can anybody
tell me why there are 2...and if they are different...what are those
differences?

Thanks!

mark
