I have a worksheet with subtotals, but I'd like to take just those subtotals
to another sheet for further manipulation. Any ideas?

Collapse the groups and select all the subtotals.
Hit <F5
Click on "Special"
Click on "Visible Cells Only"
Then <OK

Right click in the selection and choose "Copy"

Then navigate to wherever you wish, and then "Paste".

That sounds reasonable enough but it doesn't work. When you paste it you get
the underlying data from the hidden rows as well. I need a way to only copy
the exposed data, not the hidden data.

Then you did something wrong!

After you hit <OK your selection should have white lines in it..
You must right click in *that* selection and choose "Copy", while you can
still see the white lines within that selection that represent the hidden
rows.

After you choose "Copy", your selection should be filled with the marquee
(marching ants) following those white lines, meaning that there are
*numerous individual* selections being sent to the clip-board as a single
item.

Try it again. It *does* work.

I'm sorry if I'm being dense here, but *where* am I seeing an OK to hit?
And where am I seeing white lines? I have a list, I created subtotals,
collapsed to level 2 to only display the subtotals. If I select that, and
choose copy, I only see the usual black lines with a marquee. What am I
missing?

All I'm able to do here is to repeat my original instructions.

Re-read my first post.

After you collapse and then select, didn't I say hit <F5?
That means function key F5!

This brings up the "Go To" dialog box with buttons on the right side, one of
which is "Special".
Click on "Special", which was my second instruction.

This brings up the "Go To Special" dialog box.
There are two columns of choices in this window.
In the right column you'll see that one of the choices is "Visible Cells
Only".
Click on the "Visible Cells Only", which was my third instruction.

NOW, you click on the <OK button on the extreme right side.
That was my fourth instruction.

Now, I'm copying here my second posts description of what you should see and
do:
