I've found that if I modify the folder options for .xlsx file types by adding
"%1" to the end of the Application used to perform action: string, I can open Excel files stored on my drive in separate instances (great for dual monitors). However, If I double click on multiple files in a SharePoint 2007 doc folder they will all open in the same instance. If I try to open them by left click and selecting €śEdit in Microsoft Office Excel€ť it opens the 1st file OK but if I try to open another Excel file while the 1st is open I get the message "Office Open XML file xyz.xlsx cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents. The more details button tells me that the file is €ścorrupt and cannot be opened€ť which is an error message from Word. The file is not corrupt and can be opend subsequently. Any suggestions greatly appreciated? |
