Default Possible to import data from spreadsheets on sharepoint site?

I've got an Excel file on a Sharepoint 2003 portal. Is there a way (using
vba? vb.net? other way?) from within an Excel file on a PC to pull that
data into the PC Excel file? Is something like this possible? If so, any
suggestions would be appreciated...

We've got several dozen excel spreadsheets in folders on the sharepoint site
and am looking to extrapolate the approach above to automate the larger
process.

Note: I tried posting this to the Sharepoint newsgroup, but they told me to
post it here instead...
