Default Option to put brackets around negative numbers not available in 20

Although I have set up the defauilt in the Control Panel to make negative
numbers use brackets rather than the minus sign, in Excel 2003 under 'Format
Cells Number, there is no option for brackets at all. It used to work before
we had the software re-installed on new servers. Where might this setting be?

Hi,

1) In format, instead of number, select custom & paste the line below.

#,##0;[Red](#,##0)

All negative numbers will be displayed in red & will have bracket around them

Hi

Thanks for your answer, but I'm trying to find out why the option has
disappeared in the first place - and where the setting to change it back
might be, if anyone has any ideas?
Thanks

The setting is under "Currency" in Control Panel Regional and Language
OptionsCustomize

I know logically it should be under Numbers but is not.
