Default Original cell formatting clears when I move contents

Whenever I move the contents of a cell, the formatting (e.g., borders) of the
original cell clears. How do I stop this from happening? I'm using Excel 2007
but it also happens in 2003.

Thanks

If I'm assuming correctly that you are copying and pasting values from a
preformatted sheet and don't want the formatting to move with the values, you
can copy and instead of pasting, select "paste as . .", and paste as "value".
If you are dragging for an auto fill effect, you will get a little box near
the bottom of your destination cells. select that and you can choose "fill
without formatting" to transfer only the values.

Thanks for the reply, but it's the formatting in the call that I'm cutting
values FROM that is getting changed. e.g., if I have a border around a cell
and then move the content of that cell somewhere else, the border on the
original cell goes away. I'd like it to stay.
