Speed of Excel
I have noticed recently that it takes ages for excel to respond - for example
when opening the format cells, it takes at least 15 seconds. It is also slow between when the selection has been made in the dialogue book and when they are effected. Also, bullets and numbers are other dialogue boxes are slow. Although it could be the operating system but it is run on XP and the speed of the computer is 2.79 GHz with 1.00 GBs of RAM so it is unlikely that the operating system or computer is slowing it down. If any other users have come up against this problem, I would be interested in knowing how you resolved it Michael |

XL2007 is slow; if you don't have that XL version then some other possible reasons are in this post ... http://tinyurl.com/28mff5 '-- Jim Cone San Francisco, USA http://www.realezsites.com/bus/primitivesoftware (Excel Add-ins / Excel Programming) "Michael" wrote in message I have noticed recently that it takes ages for excel to respond - for example when opening the format cells, it takes at least 15 seconds. : I have noticed recently that it takes ages for excel to respond Is this new? If so, do a thorough scan for malware. If this is not new, which version of Excel? 2007 was a lot slower than 2003, but Service Pack 1 improves things significantly. -- Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, Tompkins County, New York, USA http://OakRoadSystems.com/ "If there's one thing I know, it's men. Speed of Excel
Hi Jim,
Thanks for all your help - the link at tinyurl.com was very useful. It was the google toolbar which was causing the problem. The version of Excel I have is 2003 and since XL2007 is very slow, I don't think I will be upgrading any time soon.
