I have and use the Avery Wizard. However, when I open Excel, Word, or
Outlook it automatically appears in the toolbar section. I have deleted it over and over, but when I reopen any of the above, it's still there. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it permanently in the toolbars??? bvealey |

The associated add-in probably rebuilds the toolbar whenever Excel starts.
If you don't use the add-in frequently, you may consider uninstalling it until later. Go to Tools menu Add-Ins, find it in the list, and uncheck the box in front of it. To reinstall the add-in, return to the add-ins dialog and check the box. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions Peltier Technical Services, Inc. - http://PeltierTech.com _______ "bvealey" wrote in message ... Hi Bvealey,
I've never used Avery Wizard, so I really can't say if there is a way to disable it from that program. You didn't say what version of Excel you were using. Let's suppose 2003. One quick way to get it off the toolbar if it's a button, not its own bar, is to hold down the Alt key and drag the button of the toolbar. This will not be permanent. If it's an Add-in you might choose the command Tools, Add-Ins and uncheck the box beside the Avery Wizard. If this works it may be permanent. -- Cheers, Shane Devenshire "bvealey" wrote: I have and use the Avery Wizard. Hi,
If you use it a lot, why are you trying to remove it? You can always right-click any toolbar and uncheck the Avery Wizard on the pop-down list. -- Cheers, Shane Devenshire "bvealey" wrote: Thanks, but it does not show up in the add-ins. I have the same issue.
Excel 2003, Avery Wizard 3.1 The install created a new toolbar within Excel called "Avery Assistant Toolbar" with a single button to run the Avery Wizard. I would prefer to run via the menu Tools / Avery Wizard. The most annoying thing is that the toolbar shows up on its own line, taking up screen real estate. I have tried every method I can think of to permanently remove that toolbar (or even just have it be on the same line as another toolbar), but it shows up on its own line every time I restart Excel. - it's not listed under Tools / Add-Ins - deleted the button via Alt-drag, it comes back - Tools / Customize / Toolbars / uncheck the box, it comes back - Tools / Customize / Toolbars / delete the toolbar, it comes back - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\XLSTART is empty - C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel \XLSTART is empty - renamed C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft \Excel\Excel11.xlb to force Excel to rebuild the default toolbars, it comes back I was able to remove the toolbar by renaming C:\Program Files\Avery Wizard 3.1\AveryOAd.dll to .old, but that removed the Tools / Avery Wizard menu item as well. There's got to be a way to extract this toolbar from Excel, while maintaining the ability to run the wizard, I can't believe Avery is smarter than Micro$oft. mikthefish "dumber than a box of hair" |

Delete the whole Avery sub key, and it's gone from Outlook, but program is still install. Hope that helps tony |

Do you know the name of the file?
Close excel and search for that filename using windows explorer. I'm betting that it's in one of your XLStart folders. And excel will open that workbook each time it excel opens. If you find it in one of your XLStart folders, move it to a different location. bvealey wrote: I have and use the Avery Wizard. I followed the above post to guide me to the initial location in the registry then followed the below keys and renamed the last folder which took the toolbars out of Word and Outlook, but I can still access it from Windows. Hkey_Local_Machine -Software -Microsoft -Office -Outlook -Addins -Averyaddin.connect(Here I renamed it Averyaddin.connectold) It worked fine and still allows me to use Avery manually if I want. |

Go to add/remove programs. Highlight Avery Wizard and use 'change'
option. Program will reinstall and give the option to uncheck the wizard from Office applications. The toolbar will be gone but the wizard is still available. How does a user start the wizard, then, in their Office app? If they uninstall it via the COMAddins manager then they can still access it when needed. (Note that in pre-2007 versions you have to add the COMAddins menuitem to the Tools menu via the Customize option) -- Garry Free usenet access at http://www.eternal-september.org Classic VB Users Regroup! comp.lang.basic.visual.misc microsoft.public.vb.general.discussion --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast!
