Default Horizontal scrolling

I use the latest Microsoft wireless mouse (Model 1052) that allows me to
scroll vertically and horizontally with the center wheel. When I set up my
worksheet with two side by side panes separated by a vertical bar so I can
see column farther apart than my screen, I have a problem scrolling
horizontally. When I put my cursor in the right pane and scroll horizontally
with the mouse wheel, the pane ON THE LEFT scrolls horizontally. I didn't
use to have this problem. How do I fix this?

Thanks for your help.
