Default Use of Panes in Excel with the Horizontal scrolling

I use the Microsoft IntelliPoint Wireless Mouse 6000. It works great except
that last week my PC crashed and something is different now that is quit
annoying. When I have a vertical pane in excel so I can see 2 sets of
columns, I some times scroll sideways in either pane. However, since my
crash when I scroll horizontally, no matter which pane my cursor is in only
the left pane scrolls. Can anyone tell me what I did differently to cause
this to change upon my crash?

Thanks
RR
