I have Excel 2003, and when I open a CSV file, all of the data is in column
A. However, there is another user that opens a CSV file, and instead of the
data appearing in column A, Excel puts the data into the respective columns
(knowing that the comma separates the fields).

We have experimented with data import, wizards, and open, and no matter
what, even though we both follow each step exactly the same, I always have
the data in column A, and the user gets the data in mutiple columns.

I have checked both of our computer settings - start,control panel,regional
& lang options,regional options,customize - and we both have comma in the
list separator box.

I am trying to figure out how I can get a consistant result, or to know how
to control the result. Anyone know?

click Delimited option
click Next
check Comma (you might also want to uncheck all the others, but not
necessary)
click Next (or Finish)
check other setting on next sheet
click Finished

Thank you for your reply. I know how to get the data in column A moved to
the other columns,, but what I am actually hoping to find out is

What setting needs to be adjusted so that when I open a CSV file, I do not
have to go through the extra step of text to columns.

When I go to data, import, etc, browse for the file, check comma for
delimiter, then next, it will always keep the data in column A. However,
when my coworker does the same exact thing, he is able to get the data in
multiple columns.

It has to be a setting somewhere, but I just can't figure it out.
