I would like an Excel file to ask the user whether they would like to open a
file as read only when they open the file. How do I go about doing this? Thanks! |

I am not sure which Excel version you have..however if you have 2003 then you
should do this.. On the file 'Save As' dialog box you have a menu option as 'Tools'. Under this option select 'Save Options' and select 'Read only recommended'. This will always prompt the user whenever they open the file. Hope this helps!! -- Pranav Vaidya VBA Developer PN, MH-India If you think my answer is useful, please rate this post as an ANSWER!! FileSave AsToolsGeneral Options.
Checkmark in "read only". Note: user will get a message when opening the workbook. User can choose to open as readonly or not readonly. Is that what you want?
