I have read many messages that say I should hold the Alt key and type
0165 on the keypad to enter the Japanese yen sign. My experience is that when I do that I get a small dot (indicating that the font doesn't include this character?) I understand that Tahoma does include it and when I select Tahoma in MS-Word, the yen sign does, in fact, appear, but in Excel nothing seems to get it to appear. I selected Tahoma as the default font in options and selected Tahoma as the font of the page in question. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas? |

The keystrokes are slightly more complicated if you're using a laptop.

Hi,
I have tried it and it works fine in Microsoft Excel 2003. Do the following: 1. Click on any cell. 2. On the Format menu, click Cells. The Format Cells dialog appears. 3. Click the the Number tab. By default Number tab is selected. 4. Under the Category list click Currency. 5. Select the Yen symbol from the Symbol list or select JPY. 6. Click OK to return to the worksheet. 7. Enter a number and press enter. The cell will display the value in currency symbol.
