I have a user at work who is having a problem when he opens certain excel
workbooks, that contains multiple worksheets. Several (3 or 4) instances of this workbook open automatically, each with a diffirent sheet open. Has anyone seen this and know what the fix is? |

It is likely not actually 3 or 4 separate instances of Excel. Excel is
probably configured to show each workbook in the taskbar. Go to the Tools menu, choose Options, then View. There, uncheck the "Show windows in taskbar" setting. -- Cordially, Chip Pearson Microsoft MVP - Excel Pearson Software Consulting www.cpearson.com (email on the web site) "Neil Levy" wrote in message ... Neil,
It sounds as if multiple windows have been set up with Window - New window a few times. You see stuff like "Budget:1" "Budget:2" in each window if this is the case. If "Windows in taskbar" is checked (Tools - Options - View tab), then each window will appear on the taskbar. If the workbook is saved with this multiple-window set up, then the next time it's opened, they'll still be there. The fix is to close all but the last one (click the inner x in the upper right corner). When all but one is closed, the colons will go away. Save the file to keep that single-window setup. -- Earl Kiosterud www.smokeylake.com Note: Top-posting has been the norm here. Some folks prefer bottom-posting. But if you bottom-post to a reply that's already top-posted, the thread gets messy.
