Default how do I set up preferences for a workbook/sheet by default?

Hi,

I'm trying to set the default preferences for new workbooks & sheets in
existing workbooks, and I need to know how to go about it. The main thing I
want to do is set it so that zero values are always hidden on all new sheets
I create in workbooks I have now, and in all new workbooks I create.

Please let me know how to do this.

THank you,
Mike

First of all, the setting at ToolsOptionsViewZero Values is a worksheet-only
setting, not a global or even workbook-wide setting.

Secondly, I don't think hiding zeros in this manner is a good idea in any case.

Trapping for zeros in your formulas is a better solution but requires more work

Now.....to the default setting for all new workbooks and sheets if you choose to
go that route.

Open a new workbook. Customize as you wish.

FileSave As Type: scroll down to Excel Template(*.XLT) and select. Name your
workbook "BOOK"(no quotes). Excel will add the .XLT to save as BOOK.XLT.

Store this workbook in the XLSTART folder usually located at........

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

This will be the default workbook for FileNew or the Toolbar button FileNew

WARNING................Do not use FileNew...Blank Workbook or you will get the
Excel default workbook.

NOTE: Existing workbooks are not affected by these settings.

You can also open a new workbook and delete all but one sheet. Customize as
you wish then save this as SHEET.XLT in XLSTART folder also. It now becomes
the default InsertSheet.

More can be found on this in Help under "templates"(no quotes).
