I am receiving a zero in front of the decimal point when I enter a cent
amount,e.g., 0.50 when I want .50 in the cell. I am using Microsoft Excel 2000. I want to prevent this from happening. |

Select the cell(s) and Format|Cells|Custom:

Thanks for the help; however, thinking this is what you meant (for some reason, my brain disregarded the "type" part of your message), I chose #.00 (near the bottom of the list). It worked; however, I did not try to type in the .00 to see how it works. I will try it if I have problems with my current choice. |
