Auto Format in Excel 2007
Hello,
I have been playing around with Excel 2007, and I see it will take a little time to get used to. I have a question. What happened to Auto Format, found in prior versions of Excel? I used that feature a lot, and now I cannot find it anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance. Larry |

Auto Format in Excel 2007

Autoformat has been massively enhanced and allowed to be customised. If you set up a table (InsertTable) you will get a new tab Called Table ToolsDesign. This has a chunk called 'Quick styles', there is a huge array of auto-formats here, the same applies for Pivot tables. The 'key' to 2007 is to insert what you want first and you will get a contextual tab or two light up on the ribbon with features associated to your current task Now... If you truly want the auto-format of old, then you can add it to the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar). Click on the arrow to the right of the QAT and select More commands... select 'All commands' from the drop-down and it's there in the list -- HTH Nick Hodge Microsoft MVP - Excel Southampton, England DTHIS www.nickhodge.co.uk "Larry L." wrote in message ... Auto Format in Excel 2007
No problem...It is a curve, but I've been using it for a year now (not in
earnest) and it does become easier! -- HTH Nick Hodge Microsoft MVP - Excel Southampton, England DTHIS www.nickhodge.co.uk "Larry L." wrote in message ... Thank you very much Nick! Auto Format in Excel 2007
So far so good, but what about subtotals? On previous versions you could
make subtotal rows a different color scheme than data rows. Auto Format in Excel 2007
First, just finished an Excel 2007 course at a local college. It was great.
There are some excellent tutorials right on the Microsoft site, Help and How-to's if you go to Microsoft Excel then look on the left for Excel 2007 training. Excellent information, but of course, like anything else you have to put some time in it. The first sessions on Overviews give you the basics about the new 2007 Ribbons (and the old menu's) so it would be good to review that. For Formatting, click on the Home Tab, look for the Cells group, then click on Format which will have some of the old formatting commands. (( Notice the arrows in the lower right corners, for instance near Clipboard, near Font, near alignment which dropdown and give you the old menu's & follows thru for each tab. Check it out.)) For the Subtotals, Click on the Data Tab, then look at the Outline Group, where you will see Subtotal. The small arrows in the lower right corners in the ribbon area will lead you to the old menu's you are used to using. Going thru the MS Excel Training Tutorials will help you greatly. And one quick tip, hit your ALT KEY and watch the ribbon. You will get short cut keys. Hope this helps. from rehbrh "Larry L." wrote: Hello, I have been playing around with Excel 2007, and I see it will take a little time to get used to. I have a question.
