Default Paste Number Formats

Is there a command in either:

(i) the Paste ... Special menu; or
(ii) an icon that I can move into the taskbar

that will allow me to Paste number formats only?

I'm using Office 2000.

Regards

Default Paste Number Formats

Try these two
A) with Format Painter
Select any cell in A1:B2 and click the Format Painter (it looks like a wide
paint brush), now select the range D1:J6 and these all get the format of the
initial cell. You can copy only one format but you can copy it to as many
cells as you wish.
If you want to 'paint' more than one range at a time: double click Format
Painter and paint each range; when done press Esc or click Format Painter
icon.

B) With Paste Special
Select a range of cells have the formats required and Copy.
Move to the first cell in the target range and use Edit | Paste Special -
Format
You can copy more than one format at a time but the target and source ranges
must be the same size.

best wishes

Try the Format Painter. You can add the icon to a toolbar by going to
Tools-Customize-Commands tab. Select the Format menu and the Painter will
appear in the right box, from which you can drag it to a toolbar. Click on
the format you want to "paint," then click on the tool, then click on or
drag over the cells you want to "paint" with that format.

No

I want to paste the NUMBER format ONLY. I don't want the borders, text
style, font etc to paste with it. JUST the NUMBER format. Can this be done?

Regards

You could use a macro............

Sub NumFormat()
Dim cel As Range
On Error GoTo endit
For Each cel In Selection
cel.Value = cel.Value * 1
cel.NumberFormat = "0.00" 'your custom format here
Next cel
Exit Sub
endit:
MsgBox "No cells found!"
End Sub
