I have Office 2003 running on XP SP 3.
I recently bought a new laptop and had to port my "life" from the old to the new. I reinstalled Office and then used the export/import wizard to port most of my settings. I noticed that my customizing of the toolbars did not port, so I fixed this by hand. Later, I went looking for the xlb file, and found that the wizard had, indeed, ported the xlb file, but since I had to install Excel first, this created a "blank" xlb; therefore, when I did the export/import the old (read "has the customizing") xlb got renamed as xlb(1). I guess I should have immediately after export/import deleted the new xlb and renamed the old xlb to xlb. That, I think, would have preserved my settings. Can someone confirm or deny this hypothesis? I need to know because my wife will soon be buying her own new laptop and I would like to learn from my mistakes. Thanks, Glenn |
