Default Workbook disappeared

We were trying to protect and put a password on a workbook. At some point
during the process (the password had already been entered), the workbook
disappeared. I restored it from backup, but it's still not there, making me
think it has hidden itself somehow. I tried to "unhide" but the choice is
gray. Also tried going to the protect choices and entering the password, but
still nothing comes up. Help!

Hi Sandym
Have a look in the recycle bin
It sounds like the file has been deleted

Hi
'I restored it from the backup but it's still not there'? Wow! When you try
to open it, what happens? Can you see it on your hard drive? Maybe it has
moved to the very edge of the Excel window. If you open it and click on
Window, does it show in the list? Try Window/Arrange/Tiled to see if that
brings it back.
Good luck!
Andy.

Thanks for replying. Tried your suggestion, but it's still not there.
Wasn't in Recycle. Any other suggestions?

I'm restoring it on the server which only shows the title of the workbook.
After restoration, we click on the title, but there's nothing there, all the
information is gone.

What size is the file? Is it big enough to have the necessary data still in
it?

Andy.

I think Andy meant size in KB's. Are you sure that someone didn't do
something goofy like change the text to white. White on white doesn't
work very well :-)

I have no idea how big it was in KB's. This person wouldn't have known to
change the font to white. She sd it happened after she established the
password when it asked if she wanted to save the file. She said yes and it
disappeared.

this may be a long shot,, but have had this happen when tthe workbook was
protected,,

try going into propeties and unpasswording the workbook, you may find that
one of the options set when protecting the workbook is hiding it

i dont know how it happened i just know that removing all the passwords via
the toolbar restored the file
