Default Cell changing it's properties

How can I change a cells contents based on a specific date (date is
referenced in a different cell (i.e E2) and changes daily). I want to
record and maintain historical data.

The data we are attempting to capture is in cell F2 (currently 12),
which changes based on input.

Example: E2 contains today's date (E2 updates automatically with
formula = NOW().......(today's date)).......E3 captures data FROM F2
based on E2.

E2 date changes to the next day and F2 input is chnges to 3........data
in cell E3 (based on yesterday's data) remains at 12......AND now, I
want data in cell E4 to reflect the new F2 data based on today's data
.... 3.

I know this is complicated and difficult to explain, but I was hoping
for some expertise from the pros.

Thanx in advance.

Jeff
