Default converting from 2003

We recently started using Excel 2007. Most of our Excel 2003 files were saved
with a .wks extention. Is they any way to perform a bulk conversion of these
files to .xlxs extention that is used by Excel 2007?

Fred,
*.WKS extension files, is the file format that was used for the spreadsheet
program in Works 4.0/2000.

You will need to first convert them to *.XLS file format (Excel 97-2003), not
*.XLR file format (Works 8.0/8.5). As the link mention by Ron, describes
converting MS Office XP and MS Office 2003 files to MS Office 2007 file formats.
This can be done in Works 8.0/8.5, I am not sure if can be done in Works 6.0 or
Works 9.0, since I do not have those versions installed on my PC.

You might loose some of the formatting when saving the file in a different file
format, but you should receive a warning box, if that happens.

Hi,

Just FYI - WKS files were the file format that was used by Lotus 1-2-3.
Microsoft decided to no longer support the following file formats in 2007:

WK1 (1-2-3)
WK4 (1-2-3)
WJ3 (1-2-3 Japanese) (.wj3)
WKS (1-2-3)
WK3,(1-2-3)
WK1,FMT(1-2-3)
WJ2 (1-2-3 Japanese) (.wj2)
WJ3, FJ3 (1-2-3 Japanese) (.wj3)
DBF 2 (dBASE II)
WQ1 (Quattro Pro/DOS)
WK3,FM3(1-2-3)
Microsoft Excel Chart (.xlc)
WK1,ALL(1-2-3)
WJ1 (1-2-3 Japanese) (.wj1)
WKS (Works Japanese) (.wks)
