Default converting 2003 to 2007

I have excel 2003 on my pc. When I try to transfer to my labtop which has
excel 2007 it just won't open. why? what can I do?

When I try to transfer to my labtop

Transfer a file I assume. If you're using the double-click method of
opening the file, that can be a problem with Excel 2007. Instead open Excel
and then do a File, Open.
