Default VERY new user with CSV woes

I've been struggling with Wxcel and CSV for ages. Is there a simply-worded
tutorial somwhere? All I'm trying to do is make some changes to an Excel/CSV,
but when I am asked if I want to save the changes, I get 2 different
questions, which if I answer"yes" to, changes the file so much I can't upload
it because of the error: "Cannot fetch headers. CSV-delimiter not defined."
I'm the first to admit I have no idea what I'm doing with this, and have
just been trying to "wing it", by trial and error...but it's ALL errors.
I hope this makes sense to someone, and thanks for any advice/help.

If that article doesn't do the job for you, let us know. We can try to
answer questions about CSV and Excel specifically here.

Some things to understand about a CSV file:
Most people will tell you that it stands vor Comma Separated Values. Not
entirely true. More accurately it could be said that it stands for Character
Separated Values because there are several "standard" characters that may be
used to separate the value groups in such a file. Commonly those are the
[Tab] character, the comma [,], the semi-colon [;] and the pipe [|] symbol.
In any given CSV file, only one of those characters will be used as the
separator within it.

A CSV file may or may not have the names of the columns of data as the first
record in the file. It does not have to.

CSV files also need to be able to define text and this is done by defining a
text delimiting character (a character used at both ends of a text string).
Usually, but not always that delimiter is the " character. Sometimes it can
be the ' character.

A CSV file is a simple ASCII file. This means that they can be created,
edited and viewed with a simple editor like Notepad or Wordpad (but be sure
you save as ASCII text, not as some special formatted text file).
