Default newbie ?

I am a newbie at Excel 2007 and I need help and I am stumped..
On my worksheet, I have 50 items to sort and put in order from the highest
to the lowest.
I then need to put the 3 highest and the 3 lowest parts of the sorted data
in cetain cells of the spreadsheet.
Cells A45 and B45 are formatted for text. The text in A45 runs into B45.
Example faucets:12345.
Cells C45, D45 and E45 are fromatted as currency,
C45 and D45 are for $ data.
E45 is C45-D45.
My problem is: locations: A23 and B23. I would like the contents of A45 to
E45 to be copied to A23:B23.
Example : contents of A45 and B45 copied to A23 and B23, C45 to C23, D45 to
D23 and E45 to C45.
I have no problems with cells C45 to E45.
My problem is with cells A45 and B45. I typed in =A45 in cell A23 and the
contents in A45 do not transfer to A23.
The contents for C45:E45 transfer just fine to C23:E23.
I have treid clearing out the contents in A45:B45 and retyping the data and
no luck.
If I use a new worksheet and try to do the same thing as practice,
everything is copied to the correct cell. It works fine.
I can copy and paste my data to the other parts of the spreadsheet but it
would be nice for excel to do it for me.
Thanks

Default newbie ?

Charles,
Have you tried this:
In cell A23 type "=A45", cell B23 type "=B45" or
Select cell A45 thru E45, edit, copy and select A23 and paste.
