Default adding comments to protected sheet

I would like to know if I can add comments to a sheet that is protected.
Although the sheet is protected the cell is not locked. Can this be done?

DMT

With Excel 2002 and 2003 there is an option when protecting the sheet to "Edit
Objects"

Checkmark that option.
