Default can't change font

Hello All,
I received a spreadsheet with a font I'm unable to change. The font style
is "ï¼*ï¼³ Pゴシック". It makes the cell contents looks spaced out, like this:
D38999ï¼ï¼’ï¼ï¼«ï¼¨ï¼•ï¼“SA
Nothing I've done changes the way the font looks.

Please Help and Many Thanks to you all!
Terri

Hi Terri,
Try changing the option that show font name in it's own font.
Tools, Customize, Options (tab), uncheck List font names in their own font
That should tell you what it is looking for in the way of a font. May be you
don't have that font installed for Excel, or you have the wrong font. Possibly
you need BIG5 to handle double byte characters as in Asian countries.

Thank you David for your help,
I'm afraid your suggestion didn't solve the problem. I'm sure the font
isn't installed on my pc, but trying to change the font seems impossible.
When I attempt a font change, nothing really happens except maybe the size
can change (not the style). The double byte characters are unique and
because of this a v-lookup's to other lists will not work. I'm at a total
loss on how to proceed.

Many thanks,
