Default Excell 2003

When selecting random rows to delete, usually when there are quite a number,
about 50% of the time delete is refused with the comment: Cannot use that
command on overlapping selections.

Why does that happen please?

That command appears if you happen to use CTRL to select various rows.
If you don't, it'll be alright.
