Default Numbering Rows

I would like to number rows in a spreadsheet. A2= 1, A3= 2, etc to #2007.
What is the best way to do this?

Thank you.

Default Numbering Rows

In A2 enter =ROW()-1

Copy down to row 2008

OR In namebox enter A2:A2008 and ENTER to select that range.

In Active cell enter =ROW()-1 then hit CTRL + ENTER to copy down.
