I am trying to get a cell to display a message based on the date. I know that
if I was in that particular cell, it could be done easily; =IF((A6Sheet2!A14),,Sheet2!A15) where A6 is a given date, Sheet2!A14 is a 'checking' date which changes and Sheet2!A15 is the message I want displayed if FALSE. This is fine, but what I want to do is to get the formula to display my message in another cell. Something along the lines of; =IF((A6Sheet2!A14),,Sheet1!B14=Sheet2!A15) Obviously the above doesn't work though. |

Hi,
Excel formula cannot 'push' data they can only pull so to do what you want you waould have to put that formula in sheet 1 B14 or resort to VB. The correct syntax for B14 would be =IF(A6Sheet2!A14,"",Sheet2!A15) Mike "FoxIII" wrote: I am trying to get a cell to display a message based on the date. Thanks for the reply. It was helpful, but I guess I'm gonna have to resort to
VB as the whole reason for trying to do this is that B14 must not hold a formula. Thanks though. I'll go dive into VB. A formula can only affect the cell that it is in. Can't you put your
first formula in B14 of Sheet1? Hope this helps. Pete On Dec 30, 1:27*pm, FoxIII wrote: I am trying to get a cell to display a message based on the date.
