Change different cell based on conditional statement
I am trying to get a cell to display a message based on the date. I know that
if I was in that particular cell, it could be done easily; =IF((A6Sheet2!A14),,Sheet2!A15) where A6 is a given date, Sheet2!A14 is a 'checking' date which changes and Sheet2!A15 is the message I want displayed if FALSE. This is fine, but what I want to do is to get the formula to display my message in another cell. Something along the lines of; =IF((A6Sheet2!A14),,Sheet1!B14=Sheet2!A15) Obviously the above doesn't work though. |
Change different cell based on conditional statement
Hi,
Excel formula cannot 'push' data they can only pull so to do what you want you waould have to put that formula in sheet 1 B14 or resort to VB. The correct syntax for B14 would be =IF(A6Sheet2!A14,"",Sheet2!A15) Mike "FoxIII" wrote: I am trying to get a cell to display a message based on the date. A formula can only affect the cell that it is in. Can't you put your
first formula in B14 of Sheet1? Hope this helps. Pete On Dec 30, 1:27*pm, FoxIII wrote: I am trying to get a cell to display a message based on the date. Thanks for the reply. It was helpful, but I guess I'm gonna have to resort to
VB as the whole reason for trying to do this is that B14 must not hold a formula. Thanks though. I'll go dive into VB.
